How to Play Krillion
Seven prompts a day, one attempt, and a simple rule: common answers float, rare answers sink.
What is Krillion?
Krillion is a free daily trivia dive game. Every day, all players worldwide face the same 7 prompts and have roughly 15–20 seconds to type one answer per prompt. The twist: common answers float while rare answers sink — your score depends on how few people type the same word you do.
Core rules at a glance
- 7 identical prompts per day, worldwide, same order.
- About 15–20 seconds per prompt; a blank or timed-out answer scores 0.
- 1 point = 10 metres of depth. 700 points = 7,000 m — the Trench Floor (Perfect Dive).
- The Daily Dive allows exactly 1 attempt per day; for unlimited practice rounds, check the Unlimited mode.
💡 There is no penalty for a mediocre answer — only for an invalid one. A safe 30-point word beats a rejected 0.
Ocean depth zones
| Depth | Zone | Score | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–200 m | Sunlight Zone | 0–20 | The crowd layer — answers nearly everyone typed (e.g. "Dog"). |
| 200–1,000 m | Twilight Zone | 20–100 | Slightly uncommon but widely known picks. |
| 1,000–4,000 m | Midnight Zone | 100–400 | The high-score region begins — answers few players reach. |
| 4,000 m+ | Abyssal / Hadal Zone | 400–700+ | Ultra-rare legal answers; 7,000 m is the Perfect Dive. |
Beginner tips
- Specific beats general: "Axolotl" sinks far deeper than "Dog".
- Typos sink dives: a misspelled word is rejected and scores 0.
- The 10-second rhythm: spend 10 seconds climbing past your first two ideas, lock in pick #3 or #4, then spell carefully.
Frequently asked questions
▸How do you play Krillion?
Krillion is a free daily trivia game. Every day you face the same 7 prompts and have 15–20 seconds per prompt to type one answer. Common answers score low (10 points), rare answers score high (up to 100 points), and you get exactly one attempt per prompt per day. Play at krillion.io in any browser — no download or account required.
▸How does Krillion scoring work?
Each answer lands in one of six rarity tiers based on how many other players worldwide typed the same word. Plankton (10 pts) is the most common; Schooler (30 pts) is mid; Too Clever (15 pts) is the collision trap for overthought picks; Rare (60), Deep Cut (85) and One in a Krillion (100) reward genuinely obscure answers. Every point equals 10 metres of depth — 700 points is the 7,000 m Perfect Dive.

The new Daily Dive goes live around 12:30 a.m. US Eastern time (04:30 UTC during daylight saving, 05:30 UTC in winter). That is one dive per calendar day; miss it and that day is gone for your score, though you can replay every past dive in the archive for practice.
